Group News ReleasesPrudential plc welcomes Vietnam's Prime Minister04 Mar 2008 Prudential plc today welcomed His Excellency Mr Nguyen Tan Dung, the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, to its headquarters in London to address members of the London business community and participate in a panel discussion on UK investment in Vietnam. Prime Minister Dung outlined to the assembled guests why Vietnam is an ideal investment destination for UK businesses looking to establish or expand operations in South East Asia. Mark Tucker, CEO of Prudential plc, said: “It is truly a great privilege to welcome Prime Minister Dung to London and to Prudential today on what is his first visit since his election in 2006. “I began visiting Vietnam in the 1980s as the Doi Moi ”open door” reforms were first beginning. The incredible potential of the country was very clear then and now, 20 years later, we can see enormously positive changes, especially in the Vietnamese economy and financial services sector.” Prudential is one of the largest UK investors in Vietnam. Since entering the market in 1999, the company has established market leading businesses in life insurance, fund management and consumer finance.
